The Stroup family has always been country folk. Born and raised in Northwest Pennsylvania, we understand the trials and tribulations of Lake Effect Snow and the importance of helping others in the rural communities where we grew up.
Farmer Dan served as a high school science teacher for nearly 20 years before returning to school to pursue a 20-year career as a physician’s assistant. Teaching students, patients, and now his farm customers has always been his prime motivator.
Sue Stroup, VMD, grew up a farm girl and has pursued her life’s dream of becoming a University of Pennsylvania large and small animal veterinarian since 1993. It was during her studies at Penn that she learned about the Piedmontese breed of cattle and their unique characteristics. Her expertise allows us to select and import the finest Italian semen for artificial insemination of the “best of the best” Piedmontese sires in the world.

The Unique Qualities of Tamarack Farms Piedmontese Beef
Tamarack Farms Piedmontese is a family-run, grass-fed beef farm specializing in the production of low-cholesterol beef with excellent tenderness and exquisite taste.
This is accomplished by using the Piedmontese cattle breed as our foundation stock.
Naturally occurring genetic differences in this breed from the Piedmont region of Italy are the secret to the most tender beef on earth, bar none. Instead of relying on intramuscular fat, the actual structure of the meat yields the most desirable tenderness scores, according to Meat Animal Research Center studies.
